For over a century, the Niagara County Fair has been a cornerstone of fun, tradition, community, and agriculture in Lockport, NY. With roots dating back to the 1850s, the Fair began when the Niagara County Agricultural Society purchased land to host what would become one of the most enduring events in Western New York.
Organized by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County, this fair serves as CCE Niagara’s keystone fundraiser for the year. The Fair proudly showcases 4-H youth projects in animal science, horticulture, nutrition, mechanical innovation, and more, all celebrating the spirit of learning and leadership. The funds raised through admission to the fair support these programs all year long. It also supports programs like Master Gardeners, Beginning Farmer program, Nutrition Education for schools, seniors, and adults, as well as the Veggie Van, our mobile food pantry which showcases local producers all year long.
Over the decades, the fair has evolved: from hosting marriage ceremonies in the 1880s to drawing record-breaking crowds for fireworks and airplane exhibitions in the 1910s. After a brief hiatus from 1918–1921, the Fair returned with gusto. The Fair saw families and community members through difficult periods in history, like the stresses of the 1940’s and 1960’s. The Fair provided a much needed opportunity for families to find joy, relax, laugh, and share in memory making and community traditions. The 1970s brought fresh energy with teen band competitions and lifestyle demonstrations that reflected the times.
Today, the Niagara County Fair remains a pillar of community traditions. While we are grounded in our agricultural and cultural roots, our eyes are on the leaders of tomorrow and what they bring to the future through the 4H youth development program. There are no bundle deals that combine ride wristbands and fair admission. Guests may:
Ride wristbands are not reimbursed or refunded for temporary weather-related ride closures.
The First Aid Station is located outside the Administration Building near the Merchants Building.
Water fountains are available in the 4-H Training Center Building.
A limited number of wheelchairs are available at the Administration Building.
Guests needing guaranteed access to mobility equipment are encouraged to bring their own wheelchair or scooter.
Yes. Service animals are permitted throughout the fairgrounds.
